Photographed between Hokkaido and Tokyo, NIHON is Robert Wunsch’s personal observation of Japan beyond its familiar imagery.
Made while travelling without a fixed narrative, the series is drawn to the peripheral: quiet encounters, everyday details, moments of solitude and small coincidences.
Rather than documenting Japan through landmarks, NIHON builds a sense of place through fragments - finding beauty and narrative in what happens just outside the expected frame.
